The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) regulates the cosmetology industry and helps to protect consumers by ensuring that salons operate legally and safely. On its website, the TDLR lists top 10 code violations. Review this list and make sure your salon is prepared for your next inspection.
- No law book

- Establishments not clean or not in good repair;
- No booth rental license;
- Salon employing an unlicensed individual;
- Failure to keep a record of the date and time of each daily or bi-weekly cleaning;
- No photograph on license;
- Clean and disinfected items not stored properly;
- Shampoo bowls / manicure tables not disinfected;
- Unlicensed individuals; and
- Wax pots not disinfected.
